It’s been a lively last few weeks here at Webspec. As we move into a month of falling leaves, pumpkin-spice lattes, football and cardigans (duh), let’s take a minute to look at our favorite things from August.
Links We’re Loving
- Many of us got a chuckle this week from this site featuring web trends of yesteryear. Make sure your sound is turned up – you won’t want to miss the full effect!
- What’s in a color? More than you might think! Check out what happens to these well-known brands when they switch swatches with competitors.
Apps We’re Digging
Todoist, a new-to-us app found by Webspec developer Eric, lets us easily manage our tasks, collaborate with others and do so through a clean, simple interface. Although the free version is nice, premium is even better, and is (semi) reasonably priced at $29.00 per year. Find it here (and we won’t even get a kickback for telling you to!).
Tender: It’s like Tinder, but for cooking enthusiasts. Swipe right to save a recipe. Swipe left to throw away a recipe. This free app allows you to have all of your favorite recipes at your fingertips.
Projects We’re Featuring
Webspec 360, the newest division of Webspec Design, allows businesses to invite their customers inside with a 360 panoramic photo tour. Our latest client, Davidson Family Dental, is now able to show off their quirky dentist office.
Speaking of offices, we’re adding a brand new collaboration space to ours! We have a crew transforming a boring old office space into a place where we can come up with great new ideas for our clients. Be sure to check out next month’s post for pictures!
How We’re Socializing
Our crew doesn’t just work together, we play together too! Social events this month included a trip to the Iowa State Fair to celebrate our four August birthdays and a biking patio crawl hitting up some of our favorite places in downtown Des Moines.
It’s a Friday & we are still hanging out together. Welcome to a Webspec social! #downtowndsm

Slack Yack
“The new guy running around the office is Remus. Please don’t let him outside – he’s not quite as well behaved as Stella when it comes to listening and following outside, the trade-off being I think he’s okay with mailmen.”
“I even had purple hair to match my skatergirl persona.”
