Move over, Jurassic World. There’s a rare discovery in town and it has nothing to do with genetically modified dinosaurs. The Art Directors Association of Iowa (ADAI) has recognized the Webspec Design site with an Award of Excellence in website design.
Award-Winning Website Design
Jasper Winery in Des Moines hosted the ADAI event, and despite the Mesozoic theme of the award ceremony, there was nothing prehistoric about the design entries. Clean, modern, interactive websites were submitted from all over Iowa in various industries, but only a select few were recognized for design excellence. Here are a couple reasons our website stood out among the rest.
Interactive Design Elements
A web page may be static, but a user’s experience doesn’t have to be. Our design, development, and content team carefully crafted each aspect of the website with user engagement at the forefront. During this process we found that a website doesn’t need a whole lot of bells and whistles to encourage visitor interaction. It is in fact possible (and often one of the pitfalls of some designs) to overwhelm users with too many moving parts or flashy colors. We focused on consistency and fine details to really enhance our users’ interaction with design elements. The large video on our homepage is meant to capture the audience’s attention and immediately give the audience a peek at our personality and company culture. Other features include subtle animations for our services icons and our interactive staff photos and Meet Us page, which is discussed in more detail below.
Engaging Photography & Videography
There is no doubt that people have been increasingly relying on visual elements to draw conclusions. When given a block of text or a photograph, most users will view the image first and scan the rest of the textual content for the information they want. For our website, we wanted to emphasize storytelling on our homepage and staff page. With digital media and automated features, it’s easy to forget that human beings actually help make all of that possible. That’s why we want to get to know our clients and have them get to know us. The photos and videos on our website are a visual, engaging way to showcase our personality for ongoing and potential clients.
