Amega is a long-standing garage door installer and repair service provider in the Des Moines area. The garage door service marketplace is a highly competitive marketplace, and Amega’s concern was that their competitors were being ranked higher for local search engine results.

As with many of our clients, Amega’s situation requires a multi-part strategy involving paid search advertising and search engine optimization.

The Challenge

Our initial approach for Amega was to focus on traditional search engine optimization strategies, and though we had some success with these strategies, we soon realized that the largest challenge facing Amega is unique to local service area businesses. These types of businesses travel to a client’s location to provide a service. Businesses with large geographical service areas, like Amega, often have difficulty ranking highly in search engine rankings because Google and other search engines take proximity to a searcher’s location into consideration when determining their rankings.

The Results

As a result of our SEO strategy customized for local search area businesses, Amega has been able to better target the larger Des Moines and Central Iowa area. This has allowed them to rank within the top 10 listings (or the first page of search engine results) for many locations within and surrounding Des Moines, resulting in more leads through their website.
