Content & SEO Coordinator

Webspec is searching for a Content & SEO Coordinator to join our in-house web design and development team. A Content & SEO Coordinator at Webspec forms the foundation for strategically implementing content for our clients; working with organizations to write or edit content that fits their brand voice and collaborating with creative teams to advise on content marketing strategy for websites or marketing campaigns.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performing basic content strategy, writing, and editing for web projects
  • Implementing the following on web projects:
    • BrandStories and user personas
    • Primary and secondary navigation structure
    • Keyword research & initial SEO
    • 301 redirects
    • Google Analytics & Search Console setup
    • XML sitemap configuration
  • Presenting content strategy and documents to clients in weekly meetings as required
  • Collaborating with designers on wireframing & content prioritization
  • Assisting with content entry on WordPress projects
  • Assisting project managers with miscellaneous project or client tasks
  • Writing copy and link text in accordance with WCAG 2.0 level AA standards including
    • Clear heading structure
    • Context for linked text
    • Sufficient alt text for images
  • Submitting work to Content & SEO Leads for review before presenting to clients
  • Proactively staying informed about industry standards and changes and participate in team discussions regarding these topics
  • Demonstrating a basic knowledge of technical SEO best practices
  • Working towards advanced Google Analytics certification
  • Utilizing strong communication skills, especially technical writing, and adapting for a wide range of industries and client needs
  • Understanding the content strategy for each client and providing assistance on execution of content strategy throughout web projects

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or other related fields
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of popular style guides including AP and Chicago
  • Knowledge of SEO, WordPress, and Google Apps a plus

Salary will be determined based on previous experience and skills. Benefits include flexible scheduling and time away from work, insurance, retirement, and wellness incentives. This position is full-time and will be located at our office in Des Moines, Iowa. This is an entry-level position and will report to our Digital Marketing Director and Project Managers.
